Folks:
I'm looking for advice / input on how to perhaps resolve this issue,
after I've done extensive troubleshooting with the 1.6(226) release,
running on 10.5.3 (all recent patches, including the huge one just
recently) on a MacBook Pro 17" Intel Core Duo (2Gb RAM).
I've had a heck of a time trying to run the SLVoice component of the
Mac OSX Second Life virtual world client. It appeared to sometimes
connect fine, then disconnect. After some packet-based
troubleshooting, I realized that I can reproduce the problem reliably
when I start and stop certain collections of AVPN profiles. I have
AVPN running four profiles connecting to probably around 3 different
SSH servers that have, roughly, 10 servers each with anywhere from
1-10 servers per mapped server "inside" the SSH server profile.
When I run all four profiles, SLVoice doesn't work. When I run just
two, or disconnect a few, SLVoice starts working. It seems almost as
if I'm hitting some port assignment limit where SLVoice can't connect
to a new set of servers because perhaps AVPN is "using" too much -
this is a hunch, not an accusation!
I'm certain AVPN is involved in this since I've done extensive testing
- I'm not looking for AVPN to fix this combination, but it's certainly
a weird bug, and since I do RL development work in Second Life for a
living, SLVoice has become a requirement for me as have my secure
connections to servers.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Cheers!
