We are all working on regaining our equilibrium, and I think the end of the paperwork that needed done ASAP is coming into sight (although it is still a ways off).  Hopefully a couple more intense weeks and we’ll have our end of the project done.

My new computer has now arrived so it is time to install and learn new versions of the various software programs I use, and to transfer over my key files.  I will admit to being a bit intimidated by Windows 10 but hopefully I’ll get the hang of it soon.  Tom thinks I’m crazy to prefer Windows 7 over 10..but he’s 15 ½ so what does he know.  I remember learning DOS in  high school, with a certain degree of fondness, so you can tell what generation I’m in.

Last Saturday, our friends returned the ewe lamb they borrowed to show at the Eastern Idaho State Fair, and its mother since it wasn’t ready to be weaned when they took the lamb.  They also dropped off a black rambouillet ram lamb.  He’s very showy (he almost looks like he’s crossed with a llama due to the length of his neck).  I haven’t heard what they want for him yet.  Since we didn’t get up to Dubois to the Ram Sale for the Sheep Station last week, he’s probably going to stick around, unless they want a totally exorbitant amount for him.  With 80 ewes to be bred we don’t dare have just one ram, and I’m not sure where we’d find another ram, specifically a wool breed ram to make daughters to go back into the flock as mothers.

We are creeping up on Becca’s 14th birthday, which will then be followed by Tom’s 16th birthday.  Our brother-in-law will have his 60th birthday in October, too.  It doesn’t seem like it should be October already.  The weather is beginning to change, so it clearly is fall, I guess I just lost track of most of the summer months.  Before we know it, it will be time to have the vet out to “preg-check” the cows and make sure they all have their vaccinations up to date.  If the weather holds we won’t have to bring the ewes, lambs, and meat animals into our farm where we live at the edge to town for several weeks.

I think our days of being a four dog family are coming to an end.  Hopefully Maisy will be going to live with Sarah’s family in Twin at the end of the weekend.  Since she is used to having a fenced yard, and chases sheep, she really can’t live with us.  Tess, the black lab puppy, has enjoyed having a younger dog to romp with.  I’ve liked being able to put Tess and Maisy in Grant’s yard and know they can play without getting into a lot of trouble. Having Maisy here is stressful because she is unhappy on the chain and if she and Tess are both on chains they tangle up. I’ve dubbed myself the crazy dog lady since I drive around town with 4 black dogs in my van.

Many thanks for your business, and your thoughts and prayers,
