Challenging Times
Friends, since our last newsletter we as a neighborhood have experienced devastating gun violence in Virgil Flaim Park and the eminent closure of the Lake City Fred Meyer. These challenges cut to the core of our community. These issues also most often impact the most marginalized members of our community. Lake City is a special neighborhood full of beautiful diversity both economically and culturally. As challenging as the current climate is I know in my heart that we are resilient, and we will emerge from what we face today. Our strengths are not found in divisive online discourse but are embedded in the shared vision of a safer Lake City with opportunities for all who live, work and play here. Support our small local businesses as best you can. Find ways to support the voices of those that go unheard. If you feel safe and are able, join in events in the neighborhood. Be an ambassador for the place in which you call home. Be kind to each other and support efforts that work proactively for a better Lake City. We got this!
