Thank you to Everyone who has sent emails to the Council. Next: You can sign up to speak at the budget hearing Monday Oct 18 at 5:30 PM. This is when the City Council will vote on funding for the Parks department and $5,000,000 of funding for our new Lake City Community Center is at risk of being deferred to next year. Here is a recap of the issues:

$16,500,000 has been committed to getting started on a new CC for Lake City with $5,000,000 to come from the Parks department - and that was promised for this year's cycle. But Mayor Durkan has deferred it to next year.  Reasons we have heard are that "there are more pressing issues" and "there are not plans drawn up yet" 

We need the Council to realize that getting a new Community Center in Lake City has been a pressing issue for many years and it is past time that plans were drawn up!

So here is what we can do:

Please tell the Council why we need the $5,000,000 funding this year and why we need plans for the new LCCC to move forward. You could include a short statement about why you need the new CC. Next steps will be to get more information on exactly what has been done to move forward with this project and what is planned.  We need to speak out about what our community, our neighborhoods, and everyone interested in improving Lake City wants in a community center.
