FRED MEYER PROTEST SATURDAY

Hello Everyone,

I just spoke to a Fred Meyer Employee who told me there is a protest organized form 8Am to 5 PM on Saturday 8/ 23.  That is all I know, but it sounds like the idea is to show up and SPEAK OUT about losing our store - and to support all the people who work there and serve us when we shop there.  

Weigh in on this if you know more!

Please avoid angry outbursts in these neighborhood groups.  Most of us are dismayed and we do need to take action.  The more of us who speak out to our public officials and to the parties involved, the greater chance we have of getting the changes needed to make our communities safer.

Burc, I share your concerns and agree we need to speak plainly.  However, using insults and name calling do not make a case.  What we need is to have as many people as possible speak out, clearly, emphatically, and respectfully. And we need to keep it up, not use up energy with exhausing outbursts.  This will be a long grueling process. We have to be strong

I am responding to the email at the request of Muriel. The only way you can get Kroger to change their mind about closing our Fred Meyer store is to work with all off our key elected officials as a group effort involving the City, County and State to look at ways for reducing the monetary loss of the store by reducing or eliminating as many none store costs as possible. We know that a lot of people in the Lake City Community and beyond that shop and get the perquisitions from our store will be adversely affected. This problem needs a coordinated team effort with community people who have or are working with all 3 levels of our government to at least have an opportunity to have the discussion with Kroger who right now has made the decision to close our store.
