Hello Friends and Neighbors,

Tomorrow ist day to comment on this project which started with cleaning up trash in Little Brook.  Often it was only 2 ladies in wheelchairs and myself out there with our bags and grabbers - using the Adopt A Street program with Seattle Utilities.  These ladies started pointing out how hard it is to get around the neighborhood in a wheelchair, and I was concerned about how often we had to be in the street, especially on the steep hills.  There is a long history about this, working with what was North District council for the first 2 grant applications and later with Lake City Greenways for the last round.  We divided the neighborhood into 3 parts because getting street safety for the whole neighborhood was too expensive for one grant.

I will post more about this soon, since it is such a good example of how neighbors can join together to get things done.  High Praise goes to Lake City Collective for their work in moving this forward!  We all need to join forces to get things done, especially in these challenging days right now.  By collaboration and cooperation we are strong!

Here's what's next:  

• For those who still want to give input but couldn’t attend the Little Brook walk, please share input by clicking here and taking our survey. We are accepting survey input for Little Brook until August 2, 2025.    
• In the coming months, we will have a draft plan for new Little Brook sidewalk and walkway locations, which we will share with you.  
• We’ll continue these conversations in neighborhoods around the city this year, which will help inform our plan for the overall Building Sidewalk and Walkway Connections program. You can check our project website for future updates. Our webpage is available for instant translation in several languages. Just click where it says English at the top to see the different languages available.
