Sign up by December 7 to Adopt an Aurora-Licton Springs Healthy Street Planter!
Example of a Healthy Street planter (left) and standard sign base (right).
It’s that time! We’re excited to share that neighbors can now sign up to adopt a planter on the remaining sections of the permanent Aurora-Licton Springs Healthy Street. We plan to begin installing the remaining permanent Healthy Street features next year, including new permanent signs. At many intersections, we’re able to replace standard concrete sign bases with planters if neighbors sign up to maintain them. If you're interested in maintaining a planter, please fill out this form by December 7.
What to know about maintaining a Healthy Street planter
After installation, neighbors are responsible for watering and upkeep of the planters they agree to maintain. If you don’t live right at one of the corners where we’re installing planters, you’re welcome to partner with a neighbor to share a planter. This is a great way to help beautify and build community in your neighborhood. For more details about planter adoption and care, you can visit the Healthy Street planters webpage or read our planter maintenance factsheet.
Planter locations
We evaluate each intersection along a permanent Healthy Street to determine where planters are feasible. We’ve determined that some planters are feasible at these intersections:
-
Stone Ave N and N 100th St
-
Interlake Ave N and N 100th St
-
Ashworth Ave N and N 100th St
-
Woodlawn Ave N and N 100th St
-
Densmore Ave N and N 100th St
-
Wallingford Ave N and N 100th St
-
College Way N and N 100th St
-
Ashworth Ave N and N 97th St
-
Ashworth Ave N and N 92nd St
If you live near one of these locations and you’re interested in adopting a planter, sign up by December 7! Often, we can provide some plants to help you start your planter. If neighbors do not adopt a planter, we’ll install a standard concrete sign base instead.
What's next
We plan to install the remaining sections of the permanent Healthy Street next year. We’ll share an update when work is scheduled to begin. We’ll also follow up with people who adopt planters with more information on maintaining their planters and a future event to provide starter plants.

We’re excited to build the final phase of this project for the community! If you have any questions, please contact us at healthy...@seattle.gov or (206) 900-8760. You can find more information about the project, including a bigger version of the project map, on our webpage.
Let's stay connected!

3rd Ave, Virginia to Pine Repaving and Water Main Project
Nov 17 – 24, 2025
Orange crosshatching shows the area where concrete panels will be demolished and repoured on 3rd Ave between Stewart St and Virginia St.
Between Nov 17 and Nov 20, we plan to:
- Prepare the paving surfaces between Stewart and Virginia to ensure they are level
- Demolish the road surface to the center line of 3rd Ave between Stewart and Virginia
For the above work, you can expect restricted access on 3rd Ave between Virginia St and Stewart St during nighttime hours, between 7 PM and 7 AM the next morning.
Between Nov 21 and Nov 24, we plan to:
- Pour concrete for the sidewalk and curb lane
- Add temporary striping for traffic
The above work is weather-dependent. If we do proceed, 3rd Ave between Virginia St and Stewart St will have restricted access starting Friday, Nov 21, at 9 AM, and then will be fully closed starting Friday night from 7 PM until Monday morning, Nov 24, at 5 AM. East and westbound traffic on Virginia and Stewart through the 3rd Ave intersection will still be allowed, but access to business parking garages on 3rd Ave will not.
