Hello Neighbors,
Do you ever feel frustrated with our primary elections in Seattle and that you wish you could vote for more than one candidate? Maybe there are a couple of choices that you like and either would be good but you have to choose one or the other.
Well, Join us, on Zoom, October 13 at 6:30-8PM to hear speakers from Fair Vote (https://rcv4seattle.org/) and Seattle Approves (https://seattleapproves.org/) explain the ballot measures about voting in Seattle elections. This will be an interesting evening with time for questions after each presentation.
Here is information from the County website:
City of Seattle
Proposition Nos. 1A and 1B
Proposition 1A (submitted by Initiative Petition No. 134) and Proposition 1B (alternative proposed by the City Council and Mayor) concern allowing voters to select multiple candidates in City primary elections.
We will hear from advocates of Ranked Choice Voting and Approval Voting about how each system works so that you can decide whether you want to:
1. Keep things the same
2. Vote for Approval Voting
3. Vote for Ranked Choice Voting
The County website gives information on both and also statements in favor and against making change. You can find more information using the links at the bottom of the page: https://info.kingcounty.gov/kcelections/Vote/contests/ballotmeasures.aspx?lang=en-US&cid=100557&groupname=City
As usual we will end the meeting with Neighborhood News – Come tell us about what is happening in your neighborhood. Bring ideas for future meetings on subjects you would like to present, or questions about issues you deal with where you would like some support, or Best: Stories about all the Good Things Happening in your neighborhood!
Join us on Zoom: Link will be sent with the reminder next week
Thank you for caring for our Lake City Neighborhoods!
