We are Excited!! Yes! The November 10 LCNA meeting will feature the long awaited news about our New Lake City Community Center!! David Graves from Seattle Parks and Recreation and Jessica Gomez from Seattle Housing will speak about the plans for the LCCC and will present a draft timeline about what we can expect.
An important part of this meeting will be brainstorming ways to kick off Community Engagement. The object is to get the word out to as many different people in the Lake City area about the plans for the new LCCC and to find ways to help people speak out about what Lake City needs and what they want in a community center. Over the next few months LCNA will be sending out information on other community centers around Seattle so we can see what is available in other neighborhoods. Bring your ideas about how to contact as many neighbors and also those people who don't usually join in on community events. Every voice is important, so let's get together to get the word out!
Following news about the LCCC will be a talk by Cheryl Klinker about how the new park on 33rd Avenue NE came about. She will tell us about how city neighborhood grant programs were used for this project. We want to continue with this idea and invite you to suggest talks for future LCNA meetings - either projects you have done or what you and your friends would like to see done.
As usual the meeting will end with neighborhood updates. Come tell us what's going on in your part of Lake City!
