Job Description
Mainframe Application Developer:

Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for a large-scale mainframe computer system. Maintains and develops on-line and batch application programs. Works with project members to develop specifications, diagrams and flowcharts. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a project leader or manager. The successful candidate will help lead the technical design, development, integration, testing, installation, documentation, and maintenance of highly complex business applications. In addition, the incumbent will develop solutions to highly complex business and technical problems, and also coach technical staff regarding software development and tools. 

In-depth knowledge of the software development life cycle including systems design, database systems, networking, operating systems, programming techniques, and technical documentation. Strong system design, software engineering, problem solving, analytical and research skills. Extensive experience in technical applications and/or information systems, or equivalent. 

Requirements: Knowledge of programming languages Cobol - Cobol 2,CICS, UFO a big plus. Experience with various file systems VSAM/FLAT/DB2. Strong background with JCL/TSO/ISPF knowledge of job scheduling (ESP a plus). 

Must be a self starter and able to research, identify a problem and solution. Must have decent communication skills with a Minimum of 8-10+ years of recent relevant work experience required. Will be doing mainly production support on an existing system with some development
