Hey Outdoors Club,

I hope everyone's semester is off to a good start. I trust that
everyone has been enjoying the snow, but if you still haven't gotten
enough of it we're planning a snowshoeing trip at the Delaware Water
Gap this Saturday. Cliff Reiter, our faculty advisor, has graciously
offered to let us borrow 6 pairs of snowshoes. Since the snowshoes are
in limited supply, spots on this trip will go to the first 6 people
who respond to me.

Due to the slightly more extreme nature of this trip, some rules
apply. First of all, we will be hiking for about 4 hours through the
snow, with a pretty rough 1000 ft ascent. This means that you should
be confident in your abilities and athletic endurance if you're
considering going. Also, we're enforcing a strict clothing policy for
this trip. We'll be working hard, so cotton clothing is hereby ruled
out because it will absorb sweat and will make you both uncomfortable
and a hindrance to the rest of the group. Synthetic layers that will
shed snow, keep you warm, and not absorb sweat are ideal. We'll be
going to sunfish pond, and it tends to be windy and cold up there, so
make sure you have gloves/hat and a warm windproof layer. Lastly, you
will need warm sturdy shoes (definitely no sneakers).

Of course, you will also need water and food, and your hands should be
free to carry an ice-axe. It should be an amazing trip, with plenty of
opportunities for winter photos. Send me an email if you're interested
in going, and I'll get back to you by tomorrow afternoon with
details.
