Subject: Joining the board of the Alliance
In the past year the Portland Alliance has published five print issues and distributed them
to our subscribers worldwide and to our distribution partnerships throughout Portland and
the pacific Northwest. Besides the paper itself, we have published two issues online.
Besides our publishing activity, each month we hold two editorial meetings, one writers workshop,
one office work party, and a NAAME board meeting.
In the past year we have endorsed, promoted, and sponsored a number of events. We sponsored
Greg Palast's speaking engagement at the Bagdad, The Human Rights Film Festival at the Art Museum,
and we help produce, promote, and organize a variety of Labor Radio Shows, Community Calendars,
Occupy Events, and Progressive Community Actions. We have done tabling at Mayday, the Palast Event,
and have appealed to Jobs with Justice and Laughing Horse for support.
Our current board consists of Theresa Griffin Kennedy, Herschel Soles, Celeste Soles, Tim Flanagan,
and Cass Martinez. We would like to add six new members to the board so we have an optimal board
of eleven people who cooperatively coordinate fund-raising, tabling, events, publishing, online resources,
sponsorships, and actions.
