Subject: "Labor Radio" on KXCR
John, would you please distribute this to all current "Labor Radio" hosts?
Hello all,
For those that don't know, my name is Bill Zimmerman, Teamsters Local 206, and a former "Labor Radio" host.
Recently I was asked if the "Labor Radio" hosts would be willing to share their content on 3 new startup FM radio stations on the south Oregon coast. (Info below) Their hope is to launch the first station in Florence OR within 90 days, and at sometime in the near future, then the Bandon and the Newport station.
I did check with Erin (Program Manager) at KBOO and she states there are no issues and the only request was to mention that the show was originally produced in Portland at KBOO.
At this time I am not sure how the content will be "delivered" to KXCR, though it was suggested that KXCR could pull your content from the KBOO web site. I think this is the best approach as it would not require any work on your part.
I suggested to KXCR that they should establish local talent to host the show and then work in segments or the whole show around their program.
I have been told KXCR will stream programs and at some point archive content.
If you are interested in sharing your content please send me an email with name and what Monday your shows are to Labor...@aol.com and I will forward it.
If you have any questions please let me know and if needed I can attend the upcoming "Labor Radio" meeting.
Thanks for your time and consideration in this matter.

Bill....
--here is the website for West Lane Translator...the 53-year-old nonprofit that holds the
FCC construction permit and call sign, KXCR, for the new noncommercial-educational
full-power FM radio....
--on our website go to "FM radio" then "KXCR"....the site has minimal info
but will improve shortly.
--the FCC, in 2007, decided to release all the remaining noncommercial FM spectrum in
the US....About 65 applications were received in Ore. and about 3500 in the US as a
whole. About half were religious station applications. One direct competitor to our application
was the former Chair of the Ore Republican Party who already had 6 stations and wanted 6 more.
--we will be the strongest public station in this area...and the only one with an actual local
studio for local involvement and participation. Our signal will go north toward Yachats and
south to Reedsport....with a core 15,000 people near Florence, Dunes City and Mapleton.
I can send additional information. I find it encouraging that organized labor in the state is interested.
I have attached an exhibit to our 2007 FCC application showing tentative programming ideas. Please
note the "Labor and Markets" 1/2 hr news program.
