To all,

New Jersey's LUGs have banded together to organize an Installfest at
the Trenton Computer Festival, April 22-23. Being wet behind the ears,
LUG-at-JerseyShore will tag along as Little Brother.

LPI certified volunteers will be on hand to install linux on PCs new or
old. Check out this link:

http://www.njulugs.org/installfest

This is a great opportunity to meet fellow LUG members, and also to
shop as there is an enormous PC flea market as well. Here is the
official TCF website:

http://www.tcf-nj.org

RSVP if you think you might attend, as we could organize a car pool or
whatever.

Are they still looking for volunteers to help out w/ the installfest?

Joe,

I bet they are. I think that people are signing up for various time slots on Saturday and Sunday [no Friday]. It is a LUGIP and RUSLUG effort, but I think wbilanco of LUGIP is coordinating the volunteer effort. The njulugs irc channel is dedicated to the installfest, so anyone in the chatroom should be able to tell you who to talk to.

My son Ernie and I will be going to TCF on Saturday, mainly to hangout and watch.

Hope this helps.

I volunteered for Saturday, noon-4pm. I don't know whether they'll
really need me, though.

What is the email address for the signup? I might sign up for the same time on Saturday, or maybe mid-day instead.

Thanks for this..................I'll go to TRPL today to drop off flyers and while there I'll find out about the wireless Internet hookup.

The TCF is just a few days away. So far I haven't heard whether they
need me to volunteer for the Saturday afternoon spot.

To all,

The Trenton Computer Festival is underway [for details refer to the
first post in this thread]. Joe is signed up for Saturday afternoon for
the pan-NJLUG installfest. My son and I will be there on Saturday as
well.

Anyone else headed that way?

Hey everyone,

Og Maciel and I and someone else from Ubuntu will be manning a booth
there tomorrow if anyone would like to drop by and pick some CDs and
other stuff we'll have there.

See you there,

Tarik

They gave us Room 208 in the Student Center for the Installfest on
Saturday. Trouble is, there was no 208. We ended up in 210. There were
enough volunteers, but no one came who wanted Linux installed the
entire afternoon that I was there. I don't know if it was the miserable
weather or the placement of the Installfest or what. On Sunday they
moved the Installfest to the Recreation Center where the registration
and vendors were. I haven't heard how that went.

I should add that it was nice to meet members of LUGIP and RUSLUG and
other Linux enthusiasts.

Joe,

I should have gone, but I was terribly tired after a burnout week of work. With the rain, I couldn't get up and going and out of the house.

Anyway.......... your talk on virutalization is only days away. Two Saturdays ago, I went to the Toms River Public Library and asked the reference librarians about the wireless access in the meeting room. I was told that Internet connections were no problem. Even so, I have a nagging doubt that there will be some snafu.

Got to go.
