Provide senior-most technical expertise in the discipline of systems
administration, implementation, operations and hands-on support of
infrastructure (hardware, software, and OS) including but not limited
to RHEL Linux servers, workstations, Local and Wide Area networks.
Drive infrastructure technology plans, specifications and
implementations that result in a highly available server, workstation,
storage and network infrastructure based on simplicity, resiliency and
manageability.
Direct the development, implementation and administration of processes
and procedures to ensure the reliability, recoverability, and optimum
performance of servers, workstations, storage, and network solutions.
Determine present and future system capability needs and ensure
systems are capable of handling anticipated current and future
volume.
Work with the development and operations team to enhance and maintain
a 24x7 systems operations capability.
Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create
preventative measures and present to management.
Provide technical leadership to appropriate personnel on system
administration and engineering activities.
Work with the team to manage the processing of incoming support
requests ensuring effective and timely resolution of issues.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure problems are
satisfactorily resolved.
Track and report progress against established milestones, metrics, and
deliverables. Anticipate and address preventable issues that could
impede progress. Adjust plans and schedules as necessary to meet
changing business requirements.
Support offsite disaster recovery efforts by participating in routine
disaster recovery tests
Participate in budgetary planning by assessing Audible’s requirements,
outlining anticipated expenditures to support the business needs of

Our client looking for a dynamic and motivated senior systems
administrator/engineer to join their Infrastructure group. As a member

The Systems Administrator/Engineer’s primary tasks are focused on
installation, configuration, monitoring and hands-on administration of
Audible’s hardware and software layers to provide for a reliable,
scalable, secure and highly available Linux (RHEL) systems
environment.
This is an extremely challenging role that demands strong leadership,
planning, technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field.
8+ years of experience in Linux Engineering and Systems
Administration. RHCT/E is preferred.
Results oriented and delivery focused, with proven experience leading
infrastructure and engineering teams.
Extensive experience in the installation, upgrade, configuration,
performance tuning, capacity planning, backup/recovery, kickstart and
security of Linux operating systems and hardware.
Solid experience with infrastructure virtualization, including OpenVZ,
Xen or VMWare.
In-depth knowledge of Linux system internals (scheduling, memory
management), and expert understanding of data communication protocols
focusing on TCP/IP.
Working knowledge and experience supporting Apache environments.
Programming/scripting in Perl, bash, and/or JavaScript. Python and
Java considered a plus.
Sharp analytical abilities and proven problem solving skills; must be
a real troubleshooter who excels at spotting issues and monitoring
problems.
Strong ability to plan projects, multi-task and handle multiple
priorities in an innovative and fast paced environment.
In-depth knowledge of industry best practices and strategies related
to workstation/server engineering and administration, monitoring,
storage, backup, high availability and disaster recovery is required.
Strong verbal and written communications skills, including an ability
to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
