Love, The US Constituion and Baseball

Hank Trenkle, Ken Woerthwein and I had a  mini reunion at the Washington Nationals Baseball game on Sunday.  It was a beautiful day and Nats won in the 11th inning with a walk off home run.

The highlight of the reunion was Ken introducing us to his fiancée, Sue Hunter.  They are planning a fall wedding.

Hank's son, Andy, teaches Social Studies at Maine South high school.  For the last 12 years his team has won the Illinois state championship competition on the US Constitution conducted by the Center for Civil Education and brought them to Washington for the national competition  Listening to those kids talking about the Constitution and responding to questions from the judges makes me very optimistic for the future of our country.

Hank missed the last "LTBuds" mini reunion in California in March due to a family vacation in Florida, but is planning to go to Normandy for the 75th anniversary of the battle that his father fought in helping to capture Pointe de Hoc despite a barrage of machine gun fire from the Germans.
