to Lincoln Town Democratic Committee
As a reminder, I am resending Laura's call to the Caucus.
Hi All.
As many of you already know, Deborah Kahn and I are stepping down as
co-chairs of the LDTC. Therefore, at the annual caucus (details
below) elections will be held for new officers, including Chair, co-
chair, Secretary and Treasurer. Any registered Democrat who is also a
resident of Lincoln is eligible to run for these offices. Elections
will take place directly before the start of the caucus between 10:15
am and 10:30 am.
I know you are all well aware of the importance of the coming
election year, with MA Senate seat and the presidency at stake. I
hope you will all attend the caucus and participate in upcoming LDTC
election efforts under new leadership. If you have any questions or
concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you for all you do!
Best, Laura
Caucus details:
The Lincoln Democratic Town Committee (LDTC) will hold its annual
caucus in the Tarbell Rm of the Lincoln Public Library, on Saturday
Feb. 11th, starting at 10:30 a.m. to elect four delegates and two
alternates to the 2012 Massachusetts Democratic Convention. This year
the Convention will be held in Springfield on June 2nd. This will be a
nominating convention and delegates will select candidates for the
Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. Each candidate will need to
secure the votes of at least 15% of the delegates for their names to
appear on the primary ballot in September.
Any Lincoln Democrat registered as of Dec. 31, 2011 is welcome to vote
and run for a delegate or alternate position.Delegates will be equally
divided between men and women. Delegate candidates are asked to make
a one-minute speech or provide handouts as to why they would like to
attend the Caucus, consent to nomination in writing, and, if selected
as a delegate, pay the Convention registration fee by April 13th, or
apply for a fee waiver within 10 days. Any registered Democrat present
who is not elected as a delegate or alternate may apply to be an add-
on delegate in one of the following categories: youth (18 to 35),
minority and disabled.
Discrimination on the basis of race, sex, age, color, creed, national
origin, religion, ethnic identity, sexual orientation or economic
status in the conduct of the Caucus is strictly prohibited. Challenges
to the delegate-selection process must be filed with the Massachusetts
Democratic Party, 77 Summer St., 10th flr., Boston, MA 02110 within 10
days after the caucus.
Other Lincoln residents are welcome to attend but may not vote or run
for office. This is a great opportunity to find out more about how the
Democratic Party works and what it stands for. Please note: doors will
close at 10:15 p.m. sharp.
