To Whom it May Concern,
I am reaching out to you about a research study that is being done regarding the academic and mentoring experiences of Black women in graduate programs. Janice M. Robinson, a doctoral candidate, is conducting this study as a part of the requirements for fulfillment of the EdD degree requirement.
The purpose of this dissertation study is to research the academic experiences of Black women who have matriculated through the educational pipeline from K-12 and through higher education. I am interested and focused on the experiences of the women who have made it to graduate school status, and what their journey and learning process has looked like for each of them. Additionally, my research seeks to understand the mentoring relationships acquired through this pipeline and journey and what those mentoring relationships look/looked like. The participants role in this study will be to participate in  one 60-90 minute individual interview and two 60- 90-minute group interviews/discussion groups.
Additionally, there will be no personally identifiable characteristics revealed in this study about any participant such as name, age, place of employment, or college attended. Their participation in the study is voluntary, and they are welcome to leave the study at any time.
