Hi Everyone,

We are pleased to announce a new part-time position for a Community Archivist
at the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California (CHSSC). This grant-
funded role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the preservation
and promotion of the rich history of Chinese and Chinese Americans in Southern
California.

Position Overview:

Location: 415 Bernard Street, Los Angeles, California
Duration: September 2, 2024, to June 30, 2025
Hours: 16 hours per week, Monday-Friday preferred
Compensation Range: $2,000 to $2,400 per month
Application Deadline: The position will remain open until filled.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and standardize physical and digital archival collections.
Develop and implement archival policies and procedures.
Oversee digital collections and exhibits using Omeka.
Train and manage archival interns.
Interact with patrons and prepare archival materials.

Qualifications:

MLS/MLIS or MA in Museum Studies preferred.
Minimum 2 years of archival management experience.
Knowledge of ArchivesSpace, Online Archives of California, Calisphere, and
Omeka.
Strong technical skills and understanding of digitization and preservation
practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
