Greetings everyone,

My firm is currently deciding whether or not to switch to another internet browser (Chrome or Firefox) or stay with IE. The Training staff have been tasked with testing a large number of the Apps.

I would be interested in hearing about your experiences; what feedback (positive or negative) regarding browsers tested, what works, what doesn’t work, etc.  Any assistance you could give me would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Deborah

Hi, Deborah!!

I can't give you a lot of technical defense of Chrome, but I can tell you having it brings two big advantages: 1) It's always good to have a backup browser when you're faced with a website that, for whatever reason, hates YOUR browser. 2) allowing your users to choose Chrome is a great good will builder.

Hi Deborah,

We install IE on all computers at my firm, and use it as our "standard" browser, because we've found too many things that just don't work quite right with Chrome and Firefox. That being said, we do allow users to install Firefox, Chrome or anything else they'd like to use as a browser.

Specific problems we've encountered using browsers other than IE:

Several of the court websites (I'm in Louisiana, and realize most of you are in California) don't work (well) in anything but Internet Explorer.
We've had problems with Chome and Firefox playing nicely with Nuance PDF and Adobe.
Our firm intranet page doesn't work well in anything but Internet Explorer.
We also found that some of the auto updates to Chrome and Firefox caused issues with our virus protection software and access to our web-based mail quarantine.

That about sums up our experiences.

I hope this helps!
Anne
