Dear TIC teachers, educators, and friends,

Happy 2026!  As your trout continue to grow, they require more maintenance.  This is a great time to check and clean your filters and continue with weekly water changes (replace 20% of the tank water with de-chlorinated, cool water).  Additional instructions on tank maintenance can be found here, and troubleshooting tips can be found here.

It’s time to start planning your spring trout releases!  In the attached newsletter, you will find information for completing the NY Trout Release Permit Application (due Friday, March 13) and registering for the Spring TIC Teacher Conference (Tuesday, March 10).  Also attached to this email is our Trout Release Site Guide to help you identify your release location.

Please keep a look out for the February newsletter, which will have more information on trout release trip planning and an introduction to our new Trout in the Classroom Coordinator, Mackenna Hackimer!  More details to come soon.

All the best,

Robin
