Follow up on writing letters in favor of retaining ASU's LGBTQ specialist position

Hello AZ LGBTQA Higher Education Network,

A big thanks to all those who made it to the wonderful, productive and motivating meeting last Wednesday! For our part, we are compiling general notes and working on framing the mission statement we all came up with, which will be sent out this week. Thanks to those point people who have already sent out notes to their working groups! 

For now, I wanted to follow up with our discussion from the meeting about utilizing this network for supporting one another in times of crisis. As you may already know, the ASU LGBTQ Specialist position has been cut down to a half time position. With multiple large campuses and one of the largest enrollments in the country, it was already a difficult task to provide services, which Chris Schlarb has done amazingly for the last 2 years. This is a huge step backward for ASU, and many expressed interest in writing a letter of support to retain this position. We have copied 2 such letters that you may want to reference if you would like to write a letter to this email.
