Hello everyone,

As the time approaches fast for us to come together and plan for the future of the AZ LGBTQA Higher Education Network, we are excited to give you more information about how to prepare and what to expect for the meeting. Please read below for details, and see attached for the agenda. If you have questions/comments/concerns, please email me directly (instead of replying to the listserv).

AZ LGBTQA Higher Education Network Meeting
May 22nd, 10am - 5pm
ASU Downtown Campus
University Center 219
Phoenix, AZ

Thanks to everyone who has already RSVP'd to attend. If you plan to attend but have not RSVP'd, please let us know ASAP so that we can be sure not to exceed the room capacity.

TO PREPARE:
You will see in the agenda that we have time allotted in the beginning of the meeting for report outs. However, we will be using a different approach for report outs than usual. Instead of coming prepared with a presentation, or a list of numbers or events, we ask that you come prepared to talk about the institutional, structural, and environmental underpinnings of the work you do on your campus. This will be a relatively informal discussion, with no slides. We will allot 10 minutes per campus to share and then have a group discussion. Please analyze your activities and efforts over the last year, and consider the following questions:
  1. When things were successful, what were some of the things which contributed to those successes?
  2. When things didn't go as planned, what were some factors that hindered them?
If you are just so excited about what all you have been accomplishing this year (which there is a lot to be excited about), feel free to bring a handout, but this is not what we will be discussing. Please focus on the above 2 questions for that discussion. You are welcome to decide how your group wants to report out on that - together, or using a spokesperson.

LOCATION:
Information on getting to the University Center building can be found here: http://www.asu.edu/tour/downtown/ucent.html. Parking is at the northeast corner of Filmore and Central, and you must use $6 in cash exactly.

MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT:
If you have not already completed a W9 for reimbursement at one of the other meetings, we will have some on hand for you to fill out. If your department is taking care of your travel, please ask that they get in contact with me.

LUNCH:
Lunch will be on your own. We will have a list of nearby restaurants the day of the meeting, and we encourage you to lunch with colleagues from across the state who you may not know or rarely are able to see!

Thank you all, and we look forward to seeing you next Wednesday!
