I just got this email from Campus Pride advertising their LGBTQ advisors Boot Camp this summer, and while it's short notice for the event I thought I would pass it on to anyone who might be interested. It looks like a great program if you are interested. The grant unfortunately cannot fund this activity, but it may appeal to some nonetheless. See below for details.

 Hey ALL!

From July 15th-20th myself and some amazing speakers/performers, Higher Ed Professionals and LGBTQ Educators will be facilitating a 6 day Boot Camp for LGBTQ Advisors in Nashville, TN. I urge you to attend/ send this to your on campus graduate students/new professionals/advisors/ residential life staff as a great immersive professional development and networking opportunity!! 

Participants can really be from any background, whether you are LGBTQ and/or an Ally; currently advising, looking to advise, looking to switch fields, enter the field and plan to work with LGBTQ students etc. or would just like to do some personal professional growth work and network with some other amazing advisors/Professionals!  

(This camp also runs tandem with the LGBTQ and Ally Student Leadership Camp "Camp Pride" initiative we will have some overlap and be offering support to over 60+ LGBTQA Student leaders from across the nation!! Truly inspiring young people.. there are also still spots available for that camp if you know a student who should be there!)

In the past we have had people at all levels, areas and interests attend.(ex. Res life, Faculty, graduate students, new LGBT professionals etc.) Myself and Ted Lewis will personally be running the 6 day Camp with our student Leader Romeo Jackson (who is phenomenal!!)

We know there are some major pipeline issues and professional development needs in our fields and in the fields that support our positions/centers and students. I urge you to pass this opportunity along, ALSO feel free to contact me with any questions/concerns… like funding etc. Some scholarships are available on the website.

I also urge you to reach out to Transgender, Gender Non Conforming, Graduate Students, People of Color and other underrepresented groups in our field!
