I saw this too - it's a good article.

While we're on the topic of conference travel: we're collecting ideas
for how conferences can be "greened", starting with AAS and then
expanding (via some sort of guidelines document). Reply-all with your
ideas, please!

There is also a workshop at the AAS meeting that deals with energy conservation in terms of outdoor lighting. It is called "Protecting Your Night Sky". It is on Sunday from 9-4 with a lunch break and costs only $40.
We are still taking registration.
