Happy New Year! For those of you attending the AAS meeting next week, attached are the details of Tuesday's splinter session hosted by the AAS Sustainability Committee (all of whom are on this list, by the way :-).

The session will run from 11:30am to 1:30pm, and will include:

11:30 - 12:00 An introduction to the (new) committee, and an overview of the current state of play
12:00 - 1:00  A talk by Dr. Sandra O. Archibald, Dean of the University of Washington Evans School
                 of Public Affairs,
and co-author of the UW Climate Action Plan
1:00 - 1:30  Open discussion of: 1) How best to reduce astronomy’s ecological impact?
                 2) What educational resources and techniques are available to inform and engage
                 students, the
public, and politicians about climate change?

Hope to see some of you there! Even if you are not, you can still help out by advertising this session to your colleagues. Thanks!

Phil
