Hello,

I am using THERM 7.8.80.0 on Windows 10 and am trying to create a prescribed-temperature / Dirichlet boundary condition through the native Boundary Condition Library.

I created a completely new boundary-condition record using New — not a copied or converted existing record — and selected:

Model = Comprehensive
Protected = unchecked

I then tested the available native GUI combinations. With Convection OFF, Constant Heat Flux OFF, and Radiation OFF, the Constant Temperature checkbox itself remains disabled/greyed out, and its Temperature numeric field is also disabled.

I repeated the procedure on a second genuinely fresh blank record, again selected Comprehensive, confirmed Protected was unchecked and the other three modes were off, and obtained the same result.

I did not edit THM/THMX files, modify hidden settings, patch the executable, or use a large-film-coefficient approximation.

Could you please clarify:

  1. Is Constant Temperature / Dirichlet boundary creation intentionally unavailable in THERM 7.8.80?
  2. If it is supported, what documented GUI setting or prerequisite enables the Constant Temperature checkbox?
  3. Is there a supported THERM 7.8.80 method for prescribing a fixed surface temperature without manually editing THM/THMX files?
  4. Is this functionality available only in another THERM version or calculation mode?

I have attached screenshots showing the fresh Comprehensive records with the Constant Temperature control disabled.

Thank you,
Mayank Sharma

If you want to model a constant temperature, you should select "Simplified" rather than "Comprehensive"
