The only suggestion, and it's not great, is the following

Copy the entire contents of
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intel\SharedLibraries\redist\ia32_win\compiler

into
C:\Program Files (x86)\LBNL\THERM7.8

Getting the entire contents of that folder (rather than just the one file) should ensure
  1. All of the needed FORTRAN redistributable files are there and
  2. All of the FORTRAN redistributable files are the same package so hopefully there won't be any cross version issues.
Sorry this is such a problem ... sigh ...

Dear Team of Lawrence National Laboratory,

I am trying to install the latest version of THERM 7.8 on my Laptop (Windows 10). Even though I installed the redistributable libraries linked on the webpage I get an error of libifcoremd.dll is missing. Another try to install the libifcoremd.dll manually in the THERM 7.8 folder (I tried x32 and x64 versions) produces the error “(0xc000007b) the application cannot be started properly”. In the attachment you will find a picture of the manually installed libifcoremd.dll in my THERM 7.8 folder.

Do you have any similar problems installing the software? Is there a solution to this problem?

Thanks for your help, kind regards,

Maurus Maas

Dear support,

I get the same problem in W11 after installing version 7.8. Error message that libifcoremd.dll was not found.

Installed the two redistributable libraries.

Tried the above mentioned solution, but I cannot find the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intel\SharedLibraries\redist

Looking forward to your help.

Kind regards,

Wim

Did you install them as Administrator?

And are you running THERM as administrator?

Dear Robin,

We have 'admin by request' on our university-owned laptops. It runs a temporary session with administrator rights.

When I apply such an administrator session before opening Therm, I get the same error message.

So, yes, I assume I have administrator rights.

Kind regards,

Wim

For what it's worth, for those struggling to get THERM 7.8 to work, until things are clearer I'd suggest doing what I did. Version 7.8 just wouldn't work with my new laptop (Windows 11), so gave up and uninstalled it, then reinstalled version 7.6 and it works fine. Would be good to know what the issue is so that we can upgrade to 7.8 later.

I have 7.8 installed on 2 Windows 11 computers, for whatever that's worth.

Indeed, version 7.6 works fine on the university laptop. However, I have made quite some version 7.8 files on another machine. It's a pity that I can't open them on this university computer.

Hope you find the cause and a solution...

One thing that might be happening is that you are downloading the wrong installation file, because it wasn't shown correctly on our web page (!)

Once you have clicked on the link to go to the Intel downloads

the 2nd section on that page is the section where you want to get the download file from
image.png

And then you want to find the link shown in red below: 2023.1.0 / 2021.9.0
image.png
And the name of the file that is downloaded is called

w_ifort_runtime_p_2023.1.0.46319.exe

Which is NOT what was shown on our web page (I have corrected it)

I'm not sure this will solve all the issues, but hopefully it will solve some of them.
