"Encountered an improper argument" message

After installing THERM 7.8.16.0 on a new Lenovo laptop, I have received an "Encountered an improper argument" error message.

 At that point, buttons will disappear on the tool bar when I float my pointer over them, the file locks up and the only way I can exit the program is to launch the Task Manager and end the task.

I then installed THERM 7.7.10.0 and this version also encounters the same issue.

I have used various versions of THERM on laptops and workstations for years and have never encountered this before. I am trying to eliminate all possibilities this is a THERM issue and suspect this could be due to preset laptop settings, by IT? 

Has anyone else in this forum experienced with this message?

Did you install THERM as Administrator? Not sure it will solve the problem, but it's worth a try if you didn't do it the first time. 

It does sound like it might be a graphics driver issue ... ???
