Good morning,

Could someone please explain how to properly change a substrate in optics?

I’m currently working on switching from a 6 mm clear substrate with R36/23 coating to an 8 mm Optiwhite substrate with the same R36/23 coating. I’d appreciate any guidance on how to handle this change correctly, particularly in terms of modeling or updating optical properties.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Danellis H

Hi Danellis,
If you work in the 8th version of Window, see the  ID18568. Maybe that product will work for you.

Kind regards,

Zugur

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to do, but I suspect that you are not able to change the substrate of the record in Optics because of how the manufacturer submitted it, ie, without substrate information.

I have attached a PDF which describes what some workarounds might be for this situation.

Hi Zugur,
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I can’t use that one because it’s R36/23 over clear, and I specifically need R36/23 over optiwhite.

Thanks again, 😊

Hi Robin,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response and for taking the time to attach the PDF. I really appreciate the explanation, it helps clarify why I’ve been having trouble making the change.

I’ll review your workarounds and see how I can best move forward.

Thanks again for your support!

Warm regards,

If none of the workarounds work (!) for you, you might get in touch with the manufacturer, and see if they could provide a spectral data file that could be imported into Optics, and then into WINDOW.

If you end up needing to do that, get in touch with me, and I can see if I can put you in touch with the person who usually submits data to the IGDB from that manufacturer.
