Hi,
I have this problem when I want to start calculating - there is still this error:
"Mesh Error: Problem in meshing the model." and then: "Calculation not successful"

I've tried all advices I found about meshing on this forum and the Internet, but nothing helped.

It's really simple cross section. I had problems with voids and overlaping while creating boundary, but I fixed it and created the boundaries successfully... And I really can't find the problem now.

My version is THERM 7.8.15.0

Thank you for your help. :)

This link seems to point to a DXF file, which would be used to create the THERM file, but is not the THERM file itself.

Do you have a *.THM file that you can email? You can email it directly to me at rdmit...@lbl.gov

I believe the problem is the special characters introduced into the material and boundary condition names presumably due to the character set on your computer (?), such as these -- THERM can't handle them when it does the mesh or the simualtion.

I changed the names for all those materials and boundary conditions, and then no longer got the error message.

I did have to reduce the Quad Tree Mesh Parameter to 8

And one set of points were too close together and I deleted the non-corner point.

With those changes, I could simulate the model

Hi Robin and thank you for your answer.

The special characters are letters from my (czech) language. Although I know that there can be problem with them in English UI, I wouldn't have thought of that in this case... On my computer (and my THERM) they are displayed normally.
Thank you, because I would never have figured it out myself. :) I corrected it in my file and it works perfectly.

I will just add that while I was trying to get rid of the problem with meshing, I was trying older versions of THERM. And when I tried to model the cross section (with the same names of materials, with the special characters) in THERM 7.4., it works just fine.

That's very interesting -- thank you for doing that detective work in the earlier versions. I will put this on our list of issues to work on, particularly since at one point it worked !!
