Hi all,

Is there any way in Therm to automatically produce a color legend for the materials in a specific model? Or is this something I have to do by hand?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Best,
Hannah

If you mean a way to show a list of the materials and their colors, there isn't a way to do that in the program.

But it's a good idea, and I'll put on our "list of things to do" -- not sure when we would get to it, but I want to at least capture the thought !

Thanks

Hi Robin.
What Hannah asks would be very useful. It's a pity Therm can't do that.
Thanks

Hello Robin,

is there any progress in showing a list of materials and their colors?

Regards
Erik

We have not worked on this issue.

I am curious what format this color legend would take to be useful.

Would it be a list on the THERM model image that can be obtained from the File/Print option?

I'm not sure how much this helps, but it is possible to download the material library as a CSV file, and that file contains the HEX value (!) for the color.

So it would be possible for you to take that file and convert the HEX values to colors.

I know it's not a great solution, but it would let you generate the color legend now, before we implement something in THERM.

Looking at the THERM options for printing, etc, it isn't clear to me where to add this functionality. It could be in the Material Library, but the option would have to be "materials used in this THERM model only" or something like that. And would it be a PDF that could be printed, a PNG that could be saved and  added to a report, a file of some sort with the color codes in it (in a nicer format than the current HEX values), etc.

If you all  have ideas about where they would like this feature to "live" in THERM, and/or how you would use it (ie, the "use case" for the feature), that would be valuable to us so we can determine how users would want to get this information and how it would be used.

Thanks

Hi Robin,

I think either way is fine; do whatever is easier. Just make sure you explain how to generate and access it in the user manual.

Best,
Hannah

Maybe something like this (see pdf)?

you could do it with a little window like "show U-factors", when using the snipping tool one can paste that in a report.

I made this with the .lib export but you get all of the library so it is a lot of work to select the right lines. I also had to make a Visual basic formula to convert hex to color.

Yes, that is a good mockup. Thanks, I will add it to the ideas for this feature!
