“Trouble loading library file” and “Problem in meshing the model”

Hello,

I am experiencing a persistent library problem with THERM on Windows 11.

After a clean installation, THERM works normally: the default material library is complete, I can create a simple model, mesh it, and calculate it successfully. However, after closing THERM and reopening it, I receive the message “Trouble loading library file”, and most of the default materials disappear from the Material Library. I may also experience “Problem in meshing the model” afterward.

I have reproduced exactly the same behavior with THERM 7.8.80, 7.8.77, and 7.7.10. I also tested running THERM as Administrator. The required Visual C++ x86 redistributable and Intel Fortran Runtime are installed. The .lib files (material.lib, BC.lib, gas.lib, etc.) are still physically present in the LBNL library folder after the error occurs.

The key point is: everything works correctly immediately after a clean installation, but the library problem appears after THERM is closed and restarted.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Could THERM be modifying/corrupting the library files or library paths when it closes? Any suggestions for a permanent solution would be greatly appreciated.

If you look at the "lib" subfolder in the THERM working directory

C:\Users\Public\LBNL\THERM7.8\lib

Do you see these files?
