There is not really a good way to figure this out, which is something we should probably fix.
The best way to ensure you know what version it is would be to ask the person who sent it to you what version they created it with.
If you are uncertain of the version, the best thing to do is to open it with the version of WINDOW you are using, and WINDOW will do one of 3 things:
- Open the database if it is the same version that WINDOW is expecting
- Put up a message saying the database is an older version, and ask if you want WINDOW to update the database to the version of WINDOW you are using. In general you should say yes, although you might want to make a copy of it before doing that, renaming it possibly with the old version number in case you need that for some reason
- Put up a message saying the db is a newer version than WINDOW can read (this would happen if you tried to open a 7.7 database with WINDOW 7.4, for example).
You should always open a WINDOW database in the current version of WINDOW (and THERM) you are using, to allow it to be updated if needed, before importing a glazing system into THERM.
