Please note that I sent an email to Sarasota County FDOT, cc the Town of LBK, regarding the sidewalk on GMD on behalf of LBKBA. See below
Serendipitously, some work is being done by the County line.
We'll see what happens and plan to do the same on the Manatee side soon.
Thanks
tom.

As I mentioned, members of the Longboat Key Bicycle Association performed an unsolicited quick evaluation of the sidewalk on the East side of GMD in the interest of public safety for cyclists and pedestrians. We believe remedial action is required.
In our opinion, especially hazardous situations occur when
-
there is a significant amount of concrete broken resulting in holes and rubble
-
Uneven surfaces (1" or greater) that cause trip hazards
-
Joints running parallel to direction of travel wider than 1" or so (tires get stuck)
-
Deep sand covering the sidewalk
In general, pretty much the whole section from the county line to Publix is bad (County line to app 2730), from there to past Country Club Shores (about 500) is fair with some bad spots, from there to Longboat Club road is good with a couple bad spots.
The most dangerous spot is 3342 GMD (see picture attached).
There are a few other spots that we believe require immediate attention; 4138, 4134, 4110, 4030, 4016, 3760, 3500, 3342, 3150, 3014, 3008, 2900, 2850, 505 Bay Isle, 2474, 2366, 1760 and 1090 Bogey Ln.
There is some work underway on the sidewalk just south of the county line.
Perhaps noteworthy, there is damage to the sidewalk that is obviously caused by work crews. For example, adjacent to the golf course and 3970 GMD.
In addition, the sand across the road from the public beach access near 3515 needs a solution to avoid constant maintenance
Probably the FDOT has a more thorough process to evaluate sidewalks that should be performed.
Thank you for your consideration.
If there is anything the group could do to help let us know.

PS: probably you know Mr. Brownman. He is the Assistant Town Manager on Longboat Key. I have discussed this with him and the Town Manager.
