hello, idealists :o)

i'm writing to let you know that the women LOVED the meal today. there were less than 130 women, around 70 or 80 + staff. we were told that yesterday there were 125. so, it's unpredictable.

but they were able to eat a lot in two rounds (first and second serving w/ 5 sushis and more). before, during and after serving the women kept coming to say thank you that we took the time to bring something so special and that they don't have everyday. the women said it was delicious!! their smiles and enthusiasm were contagious.

A couple of women never had sushi before. These two were skeptical but visibly curious at first. Once they decided to try it, they came back enthused for seconds! Another one of the women who had lived in Japan before said she really enjoyed having this today.  And those are only two examples of the great feedback.

it was very important to see them enjoying it.

also the nutritional specialist tracy did an amazing job emphasizing the la idealist's efforts in cooking the meal. she also explained to the women that we had two kinds of sushis and that they could choose. the new center grew A LOT and they are doing an even greater job. amazing...

we had one tray of sushis (ham) and one of jello as left over. tracy kept it in the super walk-in fridge they have and was going to serve as snack later. so, there was no waste.

Jonathan, BIG thanks for coordinating this event and for picking up all the ingredients.  Natalie and Rowel, thanks for opening your home, cooking and for dropping off the food.  And all the GREAT chefs, choppers and rollers who came to make sushi on Tuesday night... THANK YOU!   Your efforts were received overwhelmingly well and with gratitude by the women at the Downtown Women's Center.

we just wanted to thank you all and share this happiness w/ you :o)

best,

leila & don.
