Hi all,

I'm looking at expenses to redetermine our fees. Looking at expenditures
this past year, it seems like our team equipment costs were much less than
the prior year. We have been charging $20/player for equipment. I see only
$2350 total this year or about $6.50/player. Fluctuations are to be
expected as balls, in particular, need to replaced.

Steve had reported $1700 in field expenses for the prior year. I see only
$126 so far this year. Perhaps some equipment was purchased that year?
Also, I think people were paid to do the fields.

There is a mysterious charge at the San Felipe Center for $824 back on
Sept 2. I don't know what that is.

Any enlightenment on these costs?

What is the San Felipe Center?

Also, the $1700 for field expenses probably includes those goals that were purchased?

Thanks for doing this, Mark.

John

I have been much more frugal with respect to fresh balls. Also, I have not purchase any additional puggs since early last spring, and those boys are expensive.

As for lining fields, the lining crews did not get paid (at least to my knowledge.)

The San Felipe charge may be a combination of an emergency House of Soccer run, for which I also charged the league for fuel on that trip. I will check my records.

Lining fields can get to be pricey.

Thanks James. So we definitely want to charge something north of
6.50/player. Maybe something between 6.50 and 20, maybe $13? What do you
think?

I'm also thinking we reduce the $300 equipment budget for comp and
tournament teams. If the league supplies basics like balls, pinnies, cones
the only item I can think of teams buying is GK gloves. They are $50 for a
game worthy pair, $20 for a cheap pair that don't have much padding.
Should we reduce this budget to $200? I would rather not charge teams for
money they are likely not to use. My team does GK by committee so having
team gloves is useful.

The San Felipe Center charge does correspond to the day there was a House
of Soccer charge. However, the charge is $824. The House of Soccer charge
was $100

The $1700 doesn't include the goals. That was like $5K.

We look to be in very strong financial shape. We have about $36K. We'll
pay out about 8K for reimbursements and another few thousand for
everything else (mostly ref fees). We do want to have 10-15K at the end of
the year so we can cover next year's DCSL fees (about 8K) and not have
cash flow issues and be able to handle player registration shortages.
Because of our surplus, we don't really need to add much of a margin for
error and unexpected costs for next year. We have a nice cushion already.

No opinion on the fee structure yet.

Please check the 8/29 receipt again. I believe the HoS charge correspnds.

re: Pugg Goals.

james: any way to buy new ground stakes for Pugg Goals? probably about 1/2 the Pugg goals in Rec have stakes that are broken or missing.

re: Current U10 Goals

james: any way to buy the little clips that hold/fasten the net to the upright and cross bars?

re: Comp team balls

james: do you normally buy the comp team balls for the teams out of the $300 team budget, or do you buy them yourself and not charge the teams? i always bought 18 balls for my boys comp team with the 300 budget, plus a more expensive game ball. that always put me near $300. if LAYSL is buying the balls for the team, then i agree that the team budget could be reduced.

re: field expenses

i thought we were paying for lining fields. i know we used to pay high school kids to do it. james, kent, amy .. you have not been charging???

>>> Yes, they can be purchased, and replaced on a routine basis. I usually do that during the summer time.

>>> Yes, though string or zip cords work better

>>> Yes, most teams get balls pro bono - but not gotten anything from their $300 budget.

>>> Yes, $20 an hour (and I know how long it takes). I did not charged the League for Fall 2014 nor Spring 2015.
