SAVE THE LOBO MEN'S SOCCER PROGRAM
Rio Rapids SC Families,

Below is an e-mail you may of seen regarding the need for continued support of UNM Athletics and more specifically the Men's Soccer Program.

Please consider contacting state officials to help them understand how important the UNM Men's Program is within our community

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Supporters of New Mexico Lobo Soccer and Lobo Athletics,

Hope your 2019 is off to a great start! Wanted to give you a quick Lobo Soccer update and ASK FOR YOUR HELP. The New Mexico Legislative session kicks off January 15th. Our Program, our athletic department and our University need additional funding to move forward. The only way the discontinued sports at the University of New Mexico will be reinstated, is with financial support and the support of all New Mexicans. I ask that you and everyone you know, reach out to your State Legislators and ask for their support of Lobo Soccer and Lobo Athletics. Let them know how important OUR program is to the State of New Mexico and the youth of New Mexico. Once a program is CUT, it may never recover. Please reach out to everyone you know and ask them to voice their opinion.
BE HEARD! PLEASE CONTACT YOUR LOCAL REPRESENTATIVES THIS WEEK, STATE SENATORS AND ANYONE YOU KNOW INVOLVED IN THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS.

The men's soccer student-athletes have continued to excel in the classroom in spite of the incredible challenges they have faced. The team grade point average this fall was 3.35 (unofficial) and Simon Spangenberg, was honored as the country's soccer scholar student-athlete of the year, an incredible honor (a former player received the same honor in 2009). Lobo Soccer has had more Scholar All Americans than any other program in the country since the inception of the CoSIDA Scholar All America Program in 2001. 15 times in the past 16 years, the Lobo Men's Soccer Program has been honored with the College Team Academic Award for having a team cumulative GPA of a 3.20.

As of today, of a possible 24 returning players, 23 are still currently enrolled at UNM! 20 plan on attending the first day of classes on January 14th. These young men have continued to push themselves and represent our State with the utmost courage, devotion and positivity in a time where there is so much uncertainty. Now it's our turn to fight for them and OUR amazing program and department!!

I'm asking for your full support which will only take a few minutes. At your discretion, I'd kindly like to ask for you to call or email the New Mexico House of Representatives, State Senate and select politicians and voice your support for the reinstatement of the New Mexico men's soccer team. Last month, Speaker of the House, Brian Egolf, fully and publicly stated on behalf of the Legislature to reinstate Lobo Men's Soccer (Link) Governor Lujan Grisham has also promised to reinstate all the discontinued programs.

Before the start of the legislative session on January 15th, these influential individuals need to understand the importance of OUR PROGRAM and what Lobo Soccer does for our State. Contact info below:
