Excellent email Kevin. I'll help out how best you see fit. I, of course, am taking care of equipment until David Fox takes it over. I'm now VP, so I'll be helping coaches out in a different fashion. One idea I have, and it depends on if my wife approves (as well as the LAYSL board), is to host an Open Academy on North Mesa one night per week in the fall. Details need to be worked out, so please do not speak the news yet.

Many thanks for stepping forward to form a team. It is the desire of the Board to have as many kids playing soccer as desire - and are willing to support parents and coaches who share our commitment to Player Development.

The goal of this team is to provide a bridge from recreational to competitive level play for 12 and 13 year-old boys (birthdates from 8/1/2001 to 7/31/2003). Games will be played in the Northern Soccer League of Santa Fe at the Downs. Optional practices will begin sometime in the summer with official practices starting in mid- to late-August.

More specifically, the U13/14 pre-competitive team is designed to provide “late-bloomers” not already on a competitive team an opportunity to improve their skills prior to high school soccer tryouts.

These fees go towards the New Mexico Youth Soccer Association registration fees, Northern Soccer League registration fees, coaching clinic reimbursements, field maintenance, website maintenance, equipment stipends for each team, operating costs for registering each player, travel team insurance, and the registration costs for 2-3 tournaments (up to $1000 per year). Uniforms are purchased separately by each family and may be used for multiple seasons. Please be aware that LAYSL is currently working out contract details with Under Armour to provide new uniforms for the club which won’t be available until sometime in the summer (http://www.laysl.org/images/pdf/LAYSL_AnnouncementOf_UA.pdf).

The only requirement to participate is the desire to improve their play and commit to the expectations for training and games. If your child is interested in joining this team, please reply to this email by June 5. Once enough responses have been received, I will schedule an information session and first practice. Please feel free to forward this email to anyone you think might be interested in joining this team. Thanks for your support of LAYSL.
