Good Morning Kim;

The field at Community Park has traditionally been a soccer field for the community (as is evident by the goals), and it is the strongest desire of the Los Alamos Youth Soccer League that it remain as such. Further, other soccer groups use the field for soccer (e.g., sunday morning group, summer programs, visiting teams for high school matches/tournaments).

Further, due to the centrality of the park to residential, commercial, and tourist interests, public health concerns should be quite evident, and taken into full consideration.

Thank you for accepting feedback from the various communities.

Vice President

All,

I was at the county field user meeting this morning and they brought to my attention a situation w/ Community.  It's not completely clear to me why they don't just make Community a soccer field but here's what they said...

the dog folks think it's a dog park
the dog folks are pushing to get it to be a dog park permanently
they, the county, thinks no one uses East dog park because of this de-facto park
they, the county folk, want it to be a soccer park
they, the county folk, can't make it a soccer park unless they hear from us

So, it was kinda weird hearing them say that they want it to be used for soccer but somehow not having the authority to make it so.. but upshot is I think we'd better have coaches and parents voice their desire for this to be a soccer park.  They said that were it designated a soccer park that they would take down the gates and could have animal control cite folks who use it as a dog park.

Kim Trujillo said, unlike the poop issue, that email input would be ok so please email her (kimberly...@lacnm.us) with the subject "Community field purpose" and have your parents do the same.

Seems like they'll just listen to whoever appears to want it most.
