This morning sadly began with heartache in Boyle Heights, when a fierce fire swept through a one-story home, taking the life of one woman, and hospitalizing three of the other four adult residents, two of whom sustained critical injury. There was no immediate evidence of functional smoke alarms in the two bedroom home, which was not equipped with optional residential fire sprinklers.
