Dear Friend of the LAFD, 

It was a frightfully busy night for the men and women of your Los Angeles Fire Department, who responded to 711 emergencies citywide between dusk and dawn, including a tragic house fire in the north San Fernando Valley, where one of four residents who initially escaped the blaze, reentered his home to retrieve personal belongings prior to the Fire Department's arrival.

  • Practice Your Fire Escape Plan with Two Exits From Each Room
  • Make Sure Everyone Knows Your Preplanned Outdoor Meeting Place
  • If Your Smoke Alarm Sounds. Don't Delay: Get Low and Go!
  • When Safely Outside, Call 9-1-1 and Follow Dispatcher Instructions
  • Once You Get Out - Stay Out! 
  • Tell First Arriving Firefighters of Any Person, Pet or Possession in Peril
