The following question was asked by a friend of mine:

סימן רה, סעיף ט
היו נוהגין להתענות ביום מיתת תלמיד-חכם

Does this Halacha apply only to the actual day upon which a Talmid Chacham dies, or is this a yearly event, year after year ?

The Kitzur SA is quoting SA Y"D 378:4 it seems there that the context is yom Hameesah and s'udas hav'ra'ah.

See EG Beikur HaGRA 5
The Y'rushalmi there and that R Abahu didn't taste when a Talmid Hachom was niftar.
