Hello Highland Neighbors!

New location this year for our meetings, the Peter Kirk Room in Kirkland City Hall at 123 5th Ave, Kirkland, WA 98033. You can attend in person or virtually (see link below).

Our guest speakers for our general meeting on Wednesday, November 16 at 7pm have requested we send in questions ahead of our next meeting.

Our first speaker is David Barnes, his email is: dba...@kirklandwa.gov

Learn about government rebates and incentives to upgrade your heating system to a heat pump to save energy, lower your carbon footprint by using electricity instead of fossil fuels, and have both heating and cooling for your home.  https://www.energysmarteastside.org/

Our second speaker is Katie Hogan, her email is: KHo...@kirklandwa.gov

Learn about the new rules for protecting trees in our city, and the status of our urban forests.

Trees Website (Kirklandwa.gov/Trees): Comprehensive place to find answers to tree-related questions

Tree Removal Permitting Guide: A good first place to look to help determine which permit to submit

Example Site Plan: Can be referenced when submitting a permit since a site plan is required

Private Tree Removal Notification Guide: For the submittal of a notification when a permit is not required.

Private Tree Removal Permit Guide: For the submittal of hazard/nuisance or Landmark Tree removals when a permit is required.

Landmark Tree Removal Guide: Additional information about removing Landmark Trees

Tree Removal in Critical Areas and Buffers: Additional information about removing trees in critical areas (wetlands, streams, steep slopes)

Arborist Report Guide: Website that discusses what the City requires for Arborist Reports when submitting for a Hazard/Nuisance tree permit.

Our third speaker, Susan Vossler, is promoting the anti-idling campaign.  Reduce vehicle idling to save energy, and help improve our health and climate.

Let me know if you have a request for a speaker for our next meeting in January. Thanks,

Mari Bercaw
