Hello Highlands Neighbors!

Many Highlands residents have raised concerns about the new 112th Ave Greenway. Several board members met with City Council member Jon Pascal onsite. Then, last week we had a Zoom meeting with City staff, including Sarah Olson, Deputy Director of Engineering, Planning, and Development Services. We also talked about other capital improvement projects.

  • The southbound lane on 112th is narrower than the required 10-foot minimum in some places (curb face to centerline). The contractor will be re-striping the lane soon. We have requested the City to revisit pedestrian safety (moving the southbound lane further away from the curb) before re-striping.
  • City staff are looking at options to keep cars from veering into the bike lane to avoid the speed humps.
  • Staff are working with residents who have lost street parking.
  • Please continue to report Greenway concerns or suggestions using the Our Kirkland portal.

We also discussed the 116th PUDO and the water pressure. We will send more info as it becomes available. Learn more about Highlands projects here.

I hope you can attend our Spring Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4, from 10:45 AM to noon

If you’d like to participate in the egg hunt, please arrive at 10:45 AM or earlier to hide the eggs. We kindly ask each family to bring one dozen filled plastic eggs (please ensure they are nut-free).

The Egg Hunt will begin at 11:00 AM and it usually takes about five minutes or less for the kids to find all the eggs. It goes very fast, so don't be late!
