Getting and Giving Help Made Easier for East King County Residents
"EastsideHelps" online initiative launched

The Eastside Human Services Forum and Kirkland Conversations has
launched an online resource guide "EastsideHelps" - for residents who
need help and those interested in offering help during these difficult
times. Kirkland Conversations, an informal gathering of Kirkland
community leaders, recognized that many Eastside residents may be in
need of assistance for the first time and others will be particularly
motivated to give what they can. In response, a partnership was
forged with the Eastside Human Services Forum (EHSF) to launch the
EastsideHelps website - an online resource that consolidates helpful
information. Beginning today, EastsideHelps will be available at
www.eastsideforum.org/eastsidehelps.

"Eastside residents and businesses are feeling the burden of these
tough economic times and need all the help they can get," notes
Kirkland Mayor James Lauinger and EHSF Boardmember. "This website
will connect them to housing, employment, and health and human
services agencies that provide the type of assistance they need."
Kirkland Councilmember Dave Asher is the convener of Kirkland
Conversations, with Kirkland Councilmembers Lauinger, and Mary-Alyce
Burleigh joining him at the table.

Colleen Kelly, Human Services Manager for the City of Redmond,
emphasizes the value of providing easy access to ways to give help.
"I have been surprised at the number of inquiries I have had in recent
months about how individuals and groups can be of assistance in our
community. This resource will be a great way to connect those with
time, money or items to donate to those organizations that need what
they have to give."

The Cities of Kirkland, Redmond, Bellevue, Issaquah, and Mercer Island
are all partners of the EHSF, and residents will soon be able to
access a link to EastsideHelps from any of these cities’ websites.

For more information on "Eastside Helps," contact Debbie Lacy,
Coordinator, Eastside Human Services Forum at Debbi...@comcast.net
or 425-587-3324.
