Construction NE 85th & 114 Ave NE

Please be advised that NE 85th St at 114th Ave NE and Kirkland Way will have temporary lane shifts from 11 p.m. This Friday (4/25) through 5 a.m. Monday (4/27)

During this time, expect the following:

  - Restricted access at 114th Ave NE and Kirkland Way.
  - Local detours directing traffic to 6th St and Central Way.
  - Heavy congestion in downtown, particularly around Central Way and 6th St, with the busiest periods expected on Saturday afternoon.

This information came from City of Kirkland More information on the upcoming traffic change related to the NE 85th interchange project. From 11:00 p.m. Friday through 5:00 a.m. Monday, access to NE 85th from 114th Ave NE will be closed while crews install the final segment of watermain across NE 85th.

Detour routes will be in place, but we expect heavier congestion - especially along NE 87th and through the 6th/Central and 3rd/Central corridors, with peak impacts likely Saturday afternoon. If you’re able, consider completing errands on Friday or allowing extra travel time over the weekend. For returning to the neighborhood, one option is to use the freeway and approach westbound on NE 85th; right-turn access to 114th will remain open.

This is the first of two planned weekend closures needed to complete the watermain work. The second closure is scheduled for next weekend (Friday May 1st  night through Sunday morning May 3rd), after which the roadway will reopen in time for the Kirkland Half Marathon. The Cross Kirkland Corridor (CKC) remains closed now but will be open for marathon weekend.
