Hi everyone,
I'm setting up a Breakout Edu/Scavenger Hunt and was wondering if I can create a Google Form Quiz that gives feedback (a secret message) only if the question is answered correctly. For example putting in an exact series of numbers.
Thanks so much for your help!

Glen,

As far as I've been able to tell, you CAN give answer-specific feedback in a Google Form Quiz. You can give one message for incorrect answers, one for correct. However, this option is only available for multiple choice (maybe dropdown?) questions. Short answer doesn't give that choice, so entering a series of numbers in a text box wouldn't allow for a secret message. Once you have the quiz setting turned on, you can click on "answer feedback" and enter one message for incorrect, one for correct!

Good luck...I like this idea!

You can use data validation on a question. Make it a short answer question; if they answer it correctly, they can move on the to next "section" of the form, which can contain the secret message. If they don't answer correctly, they get an error message.

Hi Glen,

It looks like you are getting some great suggestions. Another option, although it may be an "over-engineered" solution, would be to use the Autocrat plugin. When students submit a response, Autocrat will email them a document. An incorrect response could send them a "sorry" document... or, a "red herring" distraction. A correct response will give them an email with the secret clue.

I hope this is helpful.
