I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know how things are
going here in Shell, Ecuador. My first week went well. I am working
in all different parts of the hospital, doing everything from changing
bedsheets and taking vitals to helping in the ER. The docs here know
I'm planning on going to med school, so they have continually been
showing me interesting things and teaching me whenever they get the
chance. I'm also working closely with the interns here, so I'm
learning from them as well.
I'm living with an Ecuadorian family, which is going very well. My
Spanish is improving daily, as I have plenty of opportunity to
practice. Last weekend we took a trip with several of the other
volunteers to the mountains. It was quite fun, and definitely an
adventure. If you haven't checked it out yet, I've posted several
pictures, stories, and information about the hospital on my blog site
(http://kevinduf.blogspot.com).
It's a privilege to serve the people down here. One specific thing
you can pray for is that my Spanish will continue to improve. I find
that the more Spanish I know, the more I can help out.
Blessings,
Kevin
