I am currently using KNITRO to solve complex orbit trajectory problems
and thus, which may not come be too much of a surprise, I use Fortran.
I have been able to get KNITRO to compile from the command line by
modifying the makefile that comes with the solver for Fortran files.
However, it would be a much more powerful tool if I could compile it
in a user environment such as Microsoft Visual Studio which up to this
point I have been unable to do. (I'm an aerospace engineer so I'm not
that compiler savvy.) If anyone knows how to set this up I would
really appreciate it. Thanks!

Ryan,

I agree it would be good for Ziena to provide an example or
documentation
demonstrating how to use KNITRO with the MVS tools on Windows.
Unfortunately,
currently we do not have anything other than the DOS command line
examples provided
with the distribution. I will put it on the list of things to do
though and try
to provide something like this for the next release. There are lots
of KNITRO
Windows users out there who have used the MVS tools - hopefully one of
them
will respond. Sorry I can't be more helpful myself.

Hi, Ryan and Richard Waltz,

I always use Fortran under Windows environment with parallel
programming features but I seldom utilize Microsoft Visual Studio.

From my point of view, both Visual Fortran from Intel company and PGI
Visual Fortran from The Portland Group support Microsoft Visual
Studio. When you have any problems about using the Fortran compilers,
it is good for you to refer to "Intel Software Network - Intel Visual
Fortran Compiler for Windows" or "PGI user forum" depending on which
compiler you are using.

FYI, both Fortran compilers support parallel programming features.

Hope that it is useful to you.

Best regards,
